Date Posted: 14:03:13 02/01/09 Sun In reply to: Peter 's message, "Waiting Room" on 19:55:20 10/11/08 Sat The wait was always tortuous. Each time the nurse emerged, I was afraid it was my turn and every time she summoned someone else instead, I was relieved even though the prolonged wait exacerbated my nervousness. Once I heard through the open door that she was giving a girl a shot and was thrilled to see the girl gingerly rubbing her bottom when she came out. When it was my turn, I didn't want those outside to know where I was getting it, so I pulled everthing down and bent over before they could hear the nurse tell me to do so. After getting it, I realised that I could have had it in the arm but I was afraid to ask for it there lest others hear the nurse refuse my request. >How did you feel in the waiting room at the doctors if >you knew or suspected you might get an injection. When >I was very young I wasnt told about the possibility >because my mother knew I would have to be dragged in >but if they kept quite about it I might just assume it >was another doctors visit. When I got older I would >know usually and would sit squirming especially if >someone my mother knew was in the waiting room and she >told them I would be getting a shot usually in my >behind. >I would walk in to the doctors rooms feeling as though >everyone was looking at me and knowing what was about >to happen.
