The Conneaut Chamber of Commerce recently hosted an awards dinner to recognize people and groups who have had a positive impact on the community. We are thrilled to announce that our Monroe Sirens were invited to receive the Leadership Award! Seventeen members of the Monroe Sirens were present at the ceremony to receive the award. The Monroe Siren's various fund-raising efforts have supported the volunteer fire department since it's inception, including the building and expansion of the Fire Hall. Monroe Township is one of the few fire departments in the state who owns our Fire Station. The land was purchased and the hall constructed in 1979 with the help and support of the Sirens. No tax dollars paid for that construction or property. It was all donations. In 2005 when the building was expanded� again it happened without the use of tax dollars or use of the fire fund. That�s an amazing accomplishment! It�s no wonder this exceptional group of women caught the Chamber�s eye. Congratulations to the Sirens and thanks for everything you do!! DF
