You talk of Klahoose "regaining their culture and lifestyle" by allowing Plutonic access to their "home" in the Toba. I don't see how...and just what version of their "culture and lifestyle" are you talking about ? When they lived up the Toba they did not log as they are doing now in the Cortes woodlot. They did not run excavators, go gillnetting, watch TV and buy beer from Squirrel Cove. And furthermore the deal with Plutonic has nothing whatsoever to do with settling their landclaims which I DO support. If Klahoose had been able to secure their landclaims they would probably not have to resort to making deals with the likes of Plutonic. Plutonic and other companies like it have been taking advantage of various native bands around the province. They make these deals because the natives are desperate for cash which they wouldn't be if the government had the decency to settle their claims.
And Jenks logging plans on Twin Islands was appalling. If you didn't protest that outrage I don't know what would inspire you to protest at all. If the island doesn't want to see the island clearcut as it has been and continues to be, we should draw a line in the sand and just say NO ! The age-old excuse of "jobs" is not good enough.....
