It is entirely in the hands of Klahoose, but I see the opportunities with Plutonic reaching far beyond money and jobs. Toba is their home and this could open some doors to regain their culture and lifestyle, plus act as a catalyst in the treaty process. The fact that Plutonic's people seem well meaning and understanding is one of the benefits.

Did I say "we should just bend over for guys like Jenks, the Geoduck industry etc. just to please them"? I didn't mean that. I tried to point out that they are probably not our enemies. We already found out how useful protest is with Jenks. The pushy, in your face way we treated his logging on Twin Islands caused him to buy 80 prominent acres from MacBlo and flatten it. We can call him all the names we want, but that land might have trees today if we had acted more diplomatically.

I'm interested to learn more about the Geoduck dispute. My impression is the warning to back off came after considerable shots were fired. Or did he come in with guns blazing before we did anything?

Frankly, other than Jenks' reputation I've yet to meet a villain among these people. I keep hearing about villains but I've yet to find one. Everyone I've met was a reasonable, normal person, especially the loggers, who work in dangerous conditions relying on each other's skill and sense of responsibility. It produces a rough, tough comradery that is really quite special.
