An option that would work would be True Synch form Starfish. This software synchronizes information between desktop PIM's it can handle Tasks, Notes, Appointments and Contacts. It can synch Franklin Covey Planning Software 8.0 (New and comes with TrueSynch) and Lotus, Outlook, Act and Organizer. You can configure the software to only synch the Contacts and it only does the synch when you tell it. Hope this helps.
