Description
The company’s Mobile Appliances group (Within the wireless division) is dedicated to providing wireless solutions for today and beyond. They offer the chips, software, and platform solutions that can assist customers transition from the present to the future. Their 2.5G GPRS products have acclaimed technical leadership, and expect their 3G terminal products to help maintain this position by integrating UMTS/GSM technology.

Together with the wireless division groups, Wireless Infrastructure, and Bluetooth, they have experience in digital signal processing, mixed-signal design, RF technology, software, and systems engineering. This combined experience allows them to offer complete solutions that help customers achieve a faster time to market while meeting the special technical challenges of wireless applications.

Their team in Allentown, PA is currently looking for four (4) Systems Engineers to develop reference designs for wireless communications equipment.

Responsibilities
· Conversion of customer and marketing input into system design requirements, identification, analysis, and resolution of any applicable engineering tradeoffs
· System design based on the system requirements developed and the results of the tradeoff studies
· Allocation and specification of performance requirements at all levels of the system design hierarchy
· Provide presentations to management, customers, and colleagues as necessary, which may include:
o Status of current assigned tasks
o Results of tradeoff studies
o Justification of system design decisions and performance allocations
o Dissemination of accumulated knowledge to colleagues

Qualifications
· The ability to drive top down architecture definition and specifications for complex SOC designs including the development of Market, System, and Product requirements
· Ability to both coordinate and work as part of multi-function teams which may include internal and external IP developers and customers
· Digital communications (GSM/GPRS) design experience and leadership track record to assist in recruiting and mentoring other systems personnel
· Specific Knowledge Includes:
o Specification Development
o GSM
o Digital and ASIC design
o Customer interface experience
o Wireless Standards
o Algorithm Simulation
o ASIC design
o Processor Bus
o Technical Standards Body

Experience and Education
· PhD/BSEE or equivalent and 5+ years' relevant experience; or
· MSEE or equivalent and 3+ years of experience in systems engineering as it applies to signal integrated circuits
