While I have never smoked weed, I am a strong believer that it should be legalized. If it can be used for medicinal purposes, how bad can it be? The only problem with weed is that it can become a gateway drug, leading users to experiment with the hard core drugs later on. I know plenty of people who smoke weed daily, sometimes a few times each day, and they lead normal, productive lives. They seem no different to me than anyone who doesn't smoke. I also think that the legalization of weed would lead to a lower crime rate because there would be no need to secretly deal it and there would be a lower number of drug deals to go bad.
