In reply to: Niski 's message, "Pictures from Brett's Graduation- San Antonio Texas- June 8th , 2007" on 08:49:18 06/10/07 Sun

After 7 long weeks of not seeing Brett or hearing his voice, other then me calling his cell phone - only to hear his voice mail message (LOL) I finally got to see my Son.
We were sitting in the bleachers on the Lackland Airforce base field and it was so very hot and humid at 9am. I was straining my eyes trying to figure out which one of the brave young men that was coming on the field, might be Brett. His was the last Sqaud to come in. I figured that much out by listening to what was being said on the loud speaker. Finally I heard - 331 Training Squad Flight 388. So I then knew he was on the field. As his Sqaud come marching by so handsome and brave, I then saw him, (I marked him on his sqaud picture above to share with you) So you to can see - this was the first time I saw him and wanted to share this with my friends who have supported me these last few weeks. So there he was- really and truely I hardly reconized him. Brett was always slim anyway- but he was really skinny now.
After about a 45 minute parade of units and honors- they were released to us by base pass only until 2pm.
I was then on the field hugging him, but take into mind you can only hug for like 5 seconds, this is not the place to saw emotions. They are in uniform and we have to respect that. ( There is a place and time for that- Private).
Brett shared with us what he has gone thru these past 7 weeks and I know forsure I have a very changed Son- he was always a great kid never in any kind of trouble and so very trustworthy- but now my Son is a Man- who is a Airman with the US Air Force- and I could never be any prouder that I am now of him.
He will be off to his Tech Training for about 5 months and then another graduation there.
But atleast this time- he will hve his cell and computer to be able to call me and I will be able to go and visit him there on his weekends off.

I would like to congratulate all of the Air Men and Air Women, who graduated this weekend in Lackland, they all looked so happy and proud ....and they should be!!!!

Niski
