Date Posted: 22:48:07 05/30/07 Wed  Such an amazing time in Mexico for the Miss Universe show. Evidentially there is some controversy about the winner as there always is but I can tell you for sure, that we, the judges, were not influenced in the least by anyone or anything. It was a straight up and fair panel and collectively, we were very happy with Miss Japan taking the crown. Frankly, I was happy to see it go to someone who wasn't your typical pageant girl, but someone who was selected on personality and poise. It was a tough call as Miss Brazil and Miss Venezuela were serious contenders, but at the end of the day, Miss Japan was simply more engaging. As for the Miss USA spill on the stage, that was hard to watch, but she pulled it off and went on and continued to charm the panel. I was pretty shocked by the audience booing her when she made it to the final 5. It was pretty intense. I felt for her, but as it turned out she didn't win so I really didn't see what they were so up in arms about. It was trippy to see how seriously other countries take the contest, as they view these women as representatives of their nations. I suppose that to a degree they are, but here in the US, we kind of just go, "Hey, want to watch Miss Universe or CSI?" So, out of the final 5, I am happy that Miss Japan took it down. However, in my personal opinion, Puja Gupta: Miss India, was the real jewel of the evening. I did my best to champion her, but in the end, I am only one of 10 judges and I guess my efforts got lost in the shuffle. I was able to catch up with Puja for a brief moment at the after party and asked her to appear on SE. She is so charming and I have no doubt that she is going to be one of the ones to watch for in the coming year. Trump & Co. selected the remaining 5. Which begs the question: Who were the girls who scored placements 11 through 15 in the preliminaries? They got screwed over big time, IMO. Date Posted: 21:28:42 05/28/07 Mon OPENING: Fist of all, the opening was quite slow I think last year was done much much better!! The hosts were just fine, Vanessa Minillo wasn't in her element imho compared to when she hosted Miss Teen USA 2004 but on the other hand Mario Lopez is such an eye candy, very cheerful and gorgeous!  THE SEMI-FINALISTS: I'm so thrilled to see 10 out of my Top 15 girls in the actual semi-finals! I even screamed when Slovenia was called, gawd she was so stunning! she should have advanced to the top 10 to have a blonde rep and replace India but the latter had the face that was hard to ignore! Nicaragua was another pleasant surprise, I knew it after seeing her in the prelims that she'd make it! and the delight of the evening was the inclusion of 4 Asians in the Top 15, I shouted for joy when Korea was included as well! The biggest shocker of the night was the inclusion of Ukraine but she was great on swimsuit so I forgived her on that! Denmark and Czech Republic were postive surprises! I knew it that if Venezuela were to be called she'll go straight up to the Top 5! The African reps were oozing with sultriness especially Angola, she was on fire! Tanzania, BEautiful! I love her! Brazil wasn't in my list but she was fine! Overall the actual Top 10 was the best, 4 Latinas, 3 Asians, 2 Africans and 1 from North America! Truly diverse! (At least we won't cry for a latin domination anymore) SWIMSUIT COMPETITION OMG, this is one of the Best swimsuit competitions ever, I love the RBD group, their music was perfect for the segment! And I love the camera works on this round, reminds me of MU 2003 in Panama! My favorites here; KOREA, JAPAN, SLOVENIA, USA, VENEZUELA and ANGOLA! I think BRAZIL was overscored EVENING GOWN COMPETITION The worst music ever! Last year was miles miles better! If the swimsuit Competition was the best, the evening gown segment was a letdown! they should have opted for a more glamorous music!! SPECIAL AWARDS: This year has been so predictable about the special awards, First Philippines won the Photogenic award again for the 7th time! I'm happy for my girl although it was quite evident that she was hesitant to accept it! And CHINA was so charming, truly deserving of the Congeniality Award (We all knew it that she'd win this) And Oh, did they forget to announce the winner of the Best National Costume? or have I just missed it?  CROWNING: First let me acknowledge how stunning Zuleyka was, she was on fire when she did her final walk, she looked like as if she could top the Evening gown competition! But anyway, The Top 5 was predictable since the scores were posted! At first I thought Brazil would win it all since she obtained high scores in both SS and EG competitions but I was relieved when she ended up 2nd! JAPAN did it again and this time up a notch (This scenario happened in 2005 and 2006 when Cynthia Olavarria ended 1st runner-up and Zuleyka winning it the following year! And now Japan did the same thing) I'm very happy with the results, I'm so stunned that FINALLY an Asian woman gets to keep the Miss Universe crown! I'm very fine with that! MAD MOMENTS: *When USA fell onstage and did a Miriam Quiambao stint, oh she was a class act! Poor Rachel she has to endure the pain! * The Booing Mexicanos, gawd!! They seriously have to learn the value of sportsmanship! Once again my heart goes for Rachel, I'm sure she was saddened by the incident! * The Exclusion of ITALY, SOUTH AFRICA and GREECE (she's Oleksandra Nikolayenko this year) * When Korea ended up 3rd runner-up only? huh? if there should be an Asian winner, it should have been her but I love Japan, she made me proud as an Asian!!  Overall it has been a GREAT show! The country of Mexico is so beautiful, it has lots to offer but on the contrary it has the most notorious audience ever! I wonder what's happening outside the Auditorium now, SECURITY plss!! So this marks the end of the Miss Universe season, what a rollercoaster ride! still can't believe the booing Audience! Date Posted: 02:58:43 05/27/07 Sun  Yes, I was inspired by American Vogue's May 2007 issue! lol :)  Miss Universe- I think that it’s about time that one of Ines Ligron’s girls wins Miss Universe. All MUJ girls are fierce and have amazing style. They make Miss Universe high fashion and exemplify what beauty queens of today should be like! Riyo for me is the best choice for 2007!  1st RU- Flaviana’s face is super exquisite. With more polishing she could be a successful supermodel. I see the “it” factor all over her and just really adore her beauty! 2nd RU- Rachel is the best Miss USA ever. She’s the complete package - Stunning face, body, great personality and an impressive resume. I don’t really see any reason why Rachel would fail to make the cut. She just have "it"!  3rd RU- Ly’s modeling background really helped her ace both evening gown and swimsuit competition. Her face is really edgy and you can just see it in her eyes that she’s a winner! 4th RU- Teodora is strikingly beautiful and she can work the runway too. I specifically reserved this spot to a surprise finalist ala Lourdes Arevalo last year. Teodara, I think, is gorgeous enough to surprise us all!  6th Place- Doukissa is a classic beauty. She’s a very popular choice. Judging from her videos and pictures, I think Doukissa may be really gorgeous but she seems to lack the drive and the passion to win. I really hope that she steps up her game! 7th Place- I doubted Honey’s chances because she seems too demure to me but she proved me wrong. She was a revelation during the presentation show and her performance made her top a lot of pageant fans prediction lists.  8th Place- Farung, in my opinion is one of the most physically attractive girls in the competition. Her smile, her height and killer body just set her apart from the rest. She also looks fierce in every event. Her evening gown choice is one of the bests! 9th Place- Alida is a really gorgeous girl. Her facial features are stunning and her body is great too. I believe that if she can top her performance from the presentation, she could easily land a spot in the top 5.  10th Place- Jelena is exotically gorgeous. Her aura reminds me a lot of Susie Castillo (Miss USA 2003). She’s super sexy and super sultry and her evening gown is also beautiful. I really hope that the judges would see what I see in this girl! 11th Place- Sadina has one of the prettiest faces in the bunch and I am so glad that she didn’t hide it with her hair during presentation. Her gown is really unique and the way she worked it really makes her memorable.  12th Place -Viktoria is another classic blonde beauty. She’s tall, has a great body and exudes a lot of sex appeal. Viktoria is really hard to be overlooked, in my opinion. 13h Place-Uma is tall and can really work the runway! Her Paris Hilton-esque face, I believe, could work or not work for her. Nevertheless, Uma gave one of the most memorable performances.  14th Place- Valentina is one of the surprises during presentation. She gave a very solid performance and looked really fierce. Basing on these factors alone, she should be in the top 15. 15th Place- Jessica is just beautiful and although she kinda sounds too “pageant” for me in her close-up, her exotic beauty just wins me over. Ok, Hours from now we're gonna be witnessing the month long anticipated big finale, I'm quite febrile as of this moment and I'm not really in good condition to type in my thoughts but for the love of Beauty Pageants and with the promise of posting my Final list, I'm doing it now. So here it is, presenting My TOP 15 Girls who I want to see in the semi-finals:::  My choice for Miss UNIVERSE: KOREA (Honey Lee) - I can't stop saying Wow, this girl has come a long way, she never left my Top 5 and remained on top since the very beginning! If there's an Asian winner, it really has to be her!! She's so gorgeous!! 2nd: MEXICO (Rosa Maria Ojeda) - well just to tame the wild Mexicanos, she needs to at least finish second! but in all fairness to Rosa Maria, she has the look that is undeniably gorgeous, the gown she wore was a magnificent classic number, so I wouldn't really be shocked if she'd get this spot! 3rd: USA (Rachel Smith) - I swapped her with Mexico as my first runner-up because of fear the audience might cause an uproar, Rachel Smith possesses a very nice attitude and embodies class! I woudn't mind seeing her win Miss Universe but sometimes it's fine to sacrifice! 4th: ITALY (Valentina Massi) - The biggest leap in my list, I never really liked her before, thought she looked so thin and unattractive but things have changed after the preliminaries. In my opinion she ranks number 1 in terms of presentation on both categories, she screams "winner" to me! great job Valentina! 5th: ANGOLA (Micaela Reis) - What can I say? she's gorgeous, she lost ground in the middle of the month but ressurected after the prelims, she was so fabulous that keeping her out of my top 5 would be so hard!! The TOP 10: 6th. THAILAND (Farung Yutiham) - half of me says this girl will make it but the other half says she'll be another Oleksandra Nikolayenko. But beauty wise, she's right up there! one of the class A beauties! 7th. SOUTH AFRICA (Megan Coleman) - I love Megan, there are many things about her that I like, one of which is her matured way of thinking, she's very smart and civil with her words in every interviews! Plus she has a killer body to match!! 8th. JAPAN (Riyo Mori) - What can I say, she's one reason why Asia is the strongest group in this year's pageant, she's a fighter! I wouldn't mind seeing her spoil any of those top 5 ladies! She's very fashionable! 9th. VENEZUELA (Lydimar Jonaitis) - I'm quite surprised I placed Ly on this spot, I believe Venezuelan beauties are a lock in the top 5 once they make the semi-finals! And I mentioned this before, her presentation in the prelims wasn't of a typical Venezuelan but hers was so calm and relaxed, very subtle confidence which I totally love! 10th. GREECE (Doukissa Noumikou) - She's a Top 5 material if she just exerts more effort, she was a little bland during the prelims but that face is just so stunning to ignore! The TOP 15: 11th. TANZANIA (Flaviana Matata) - First time's a charm!! I still think she's more gorgeous than last year's Kenisha Thom, She's another black barbie, she'd surely look ravishing if she sports a wig of different hairstyles! she's very sexy to me! 12th. DOMINICAN REPUBLIC (Massiel Taveras) - One of the best gowns I've seen, just like italy, Massiel made a giant leap by making my Top 15 because of her Presentation, boy I was super impressed! And I must admit, I really like her since her national crowning, she's well loved and owns a face of an angel! 13th. PHILIPPINES (Anna Theresa Licaros) - She has the brains to make it and let's face it my girl is undeniably gorgeous, I've seen her on TV recently and gawd I told myself she's a possible crown contender. And I have a secret to unveil guys, I read somewhere that "The Donald" is currently investing in the Philippines to expand her business enterprises, now will this help my girl? You be the judge! 14th. NICARAGUA (Xiomara Blandino) - I believe among the latinas she should be the one to make it, it's her first time to make my list because of her stunning presentations as well! And let's face it she has a very beautiful face! 15TH. SLOVENIA (Tjasa Kokalj) - Ok, I always reserve a spot for my sentimental favorites every year. Tjasa stands poise to make her country proud by being the first one to put Slovenia in the pageant map, she delivered a sizzling swimsuit presentation, those legs are the best I've seen among this year's delegates! and She was very regal during the Evening gown segment, remember Denmark last year? Tjasa might just be Betina faurbye's counterpart this year. I'm willing to bet my fortune on her! Other favorites I want to see make the semi-finals:  16th. Indonesia - imho, she gave the best Evening gown presentation! I still love her and I'm quite sad I have her in this spot! She's got the best stage presence, I really want to see her make it! 17th. Belize - Another beauty who surprised me big time in the prelims, I personally love her gown presentation, it's one of my favorites! 18th. Honduras - Bubbly, cheerful and vivacious that's what I like about this Latina! C'mon this country's placement is soo long overdue! give her a spot! 19th. Montenegro - One word, HOT HOT HOT! ooops that's three words! 20th. Israel - Bad swimsuit presentation but her gown is one of my favorites! The face is very gorgeous as well! Date Posted: 19:06:35 05/27/07 Sun Thank you to all for your kind support! Gambaremasu! Tomorrow night for the final, I will model a spectacular gold-fitted gown designed by GUCCI. I chose to wear this gown because to me, gold represents the sun, the heart of Mexico, and the color of warmth and triumph. Also during the rehearsals I realized that the litghning and the background decoration on the stage will be dark. Also I thought it would be better if I wear something not as dark as the gown I modeled during the preliminaries, but instead shiny like a sunshine. Ines comes to see me everyday at the rehearsals inside the auditorium. There is an extremelly high security all the time, as we are representing countries instead of being an individual. Ines can see how I project on stage, and she can give me feedback in the evening, we can then correct and I am able to improve by the day. We leave the hotel at 6:30 am everyday, we rehearse on stage all day and when I come back to the hotel at around 9:30 pm, Ines comes to our floor which is highly secured and we work together in silence and in the dark in front of the security guards watching us, while the other delegates are mostly sleeping. It is hard of course, but I feel prepared for tomorrow night. Deep inside I feel strong because I know that there will be no mistake on the final day but good preparation, my strenght is a team work versus individuality compare to the other girls and I am aware of it. Sharing another secret.... tomorrow my hair will be done Charlie´s angels style, very glamour. I will wear a precious set of jewlery from BULGARI. I will do my best for all of you who I know are supporting me and beleive in me. I will make you proud I promise. Should I be chosen Miss Universe tomorrow night by the judges, I will go live in New York for a year and travel the world. I want you to know that will be able to live this experience with me any step of the way, because I will keep writting my diary for you. This afternoon we met Donald Trump, the owner of the competition who came to talk to us. My family arrived yesterday evening but I have not yet seen them. My mother, my brother and my loving grand-mother came with 21 other relatives and friends. They made some flags and banners and will wear a t-shirt with JAPAN name on it!! How sweet!! I am so gifted to have a supporting family like mine. I will probably not be able to write within the next days also I want you to know that from the bottom of my heart, I send my love to you all who have supported me, trusted me, being compassionate.
