Subject: We need more nationals with 13-up Supreme breakdown

As a mom of an older girl, I think it's hard for a 13-up girl to compete with 9-10yr olds. Judges tend to go more for the "cutsie" clothes and modeling styles that don't work for older girls. Let's face it, pro-am is a perfect example. As a girl gets older she has to look polished and not rediculous. That equals BORING. Let's level the playing field. Who knows, directors may find their numbers INCREASING in the older divisions if more of them raise the supreme breakdown age.

[> I so agree with that rule!!!! It is HARD to compete with cutsie. I LOVE the idea of no gymnastics, a tall teen can't do the stuff on some stages that the little ones can, just isn't enough room. Would LOVE to see no help given to anyone behind the table. New or not, some work harder than others and it will show. (a new girl getting help still sadley doesn't seem to score as well as an older one with help too) -- Anonymous, 09:14:13 10/19/07 Fri [1]

[> I also agree with this rule. I am the director of Sunshine Productions and I think this is a good idea. I think the breakdown should be 0-6, 7-12 and 13 and up. What do you moms think? I can't tell you how much I like hearing your ideas as a director. This really helps and I think you will get things changed. You guys need to advertise this board to the other boards. I also like keeping to positive so that this doesn't turn into a bash board. If a persons pageant is not listed then people will know. I have one more thing. I do think that there should be a way to get references from contestants and not just take the word of the director. I don't know if there is anyway to do this. -- Anonymous, 15:55:43 10/20/07 Sat [1]

[> [> No one wants to give their name because they are afraid of being blackballed by the director, when in fact they are blackballed anyway at most of them. I say stand up and be counted. I don't have a child in the pageants, but my friends do. If I did I wouldn't mind the director knowing what I think about certain things. -- Anonymous, 16:22:25 10/20/07 Sat [1]

[> [> I think 13 and up is too general. should be 13-15, 16-18, then Miss, Ms., Mrs.. I wouldn't want my 13 year old flat-chested dd competing with a curvy 17 year old. -- Anonymous, 16:15:58 11/08/07 Thu [1]

[> There was a system in Oklahoma that started the No Gymnastics rule. People LOVED the idea, but no one wanted to go to the pageant because they wanted the gymnastics, so she shut down. You can't have it both ways -- Anonymous, 08:32:53 10/25/07 Thu [1]
