I think that ultimately I agree with you.

However, I now believe I have a better understanding of what is meant by the "trinity" - namely that good and evil, heaven + hell, God and Satan, are the 'opposites' that are spawned from the One.

Thus they are real, i.e. God is real, heaven and hell are as real as we are - but at the same time, just as imaginary as well. So if you still are trapped in this world of right and wrong (as I am), then God is real even if you refuse acknowledge Him.

That said, it's my feeling that "God" is undefinable and is merely a word to be used as a catchall to explain the trinity and the resulting polarities that spawn from "all that is".

For me, the creation is both real and unreal - like the Buddhists say, they are like waves on the surface of the ocean - they rise and fall, but are transient; where as the source of all - the ocean if you will - is unperturbed and always at peace.

Occultist René A. Schwaller de Lubicz wrote in his book "A Study of Numbers: A Guide to the Constant Creation of the Universe" that it is the "polarization" created by the "Trinity" that manifests all. And I think he is on to something.

He explains that the number "One" is the "Irreducible Unity. Absolute nature".

The number "Two" is the "Reducible Unity. The manifested nature of the irreducible One." He continues:

"Successively, then, we obtain Three distinct natures:
1. The irreducible One, active and passive in one.
2. Passive nature (feminine)
3. Active nature (masculine)
"...the irreducible 1, having to manifest itself, becomes 2 (the reducible one) and is above all 3, and hence is the values 1 and 2, without which there would be no creation..."

Ultimately, from my study, all the great religious teachings seem to agree - it was the 'knowledge' of the opposites that caused our separation and ensnared us in the world of polarities - our "fall".
