Well, I think you deserve a tempered response. So there!

The Catholic church can make the claim to be THE Christian church in many ways, just because it was the only game in town in the west for over a thousand years. Catholic theology defines Christianity. Not the blather about infallibility of the Pope, priests not allowed to marry, etc., but the questions of the Trinity, who is Jesus, etc., etc. were all hammered out by Catholic theologians in debate with each other and the Eastern branches of Christianity for centuries.

The serpent was, of course, a liar, and in the allegory we lost our close relationship with God, which is equivalent to death, and also lost our immortality. The allegory is really, to me, an allegory for the acquisition of frontal lobes.

Paul says, before any of the Gospels were written, "All have sinned, and fall short of the Glory of God(Romans 3:23)" and thereby defines our relationship to God.

Many Christians believe that as far as Satan rules, he rules here on Earth, so yeah, OK. I'm undecided on that one, but sin is abundant. (And no, I'm not just talking about lust, but all the other sins as well.)

Personally, I don't think we are near Armageddon yet. I still see a lot of good in the world. At present, there are fewer wars going on than there have been for quite a long time. The ones we have still make the news, however.

Good talking to you. So to speak.
