Subject: Heart, broken

A couple of weeks ago, while hurrying up a flight of stairs in Toronto on my way to a meeting, I had an episode of chest pain, shortness of breath, and general weakness. I paused to get my breath back, and went on to my meeting, but went to the hospital the next day. They told me they were sure I had had a heart attack, but they didn't know why I had the chest pain the day before.

I saw my own doctor last Friday. He is pretty sure I had an angina attack, and has me wearing a nitroglycerine patch and carrying a nitro spray bottle.

I feel uncomfortable, and am trying to move up my appointment with the specialist. Right now, I can't tell if the way I feel is because I have a heart problem, or because I am anxious about it.

Anyway, time will tell. I've always considered my heart to be one of my strong points, but it looks like that may be over.
