It is mainly because of the privacy issue. I know you can restrict exposure but still there are things you won't be in control of. I don't think I will ever trust that my news or "all about me" won't become public. I once knew something about a girl... my relative, only by chance... I was visiting a page of a friend that I didn't know they were acquaintances.. and then I could know something she (my relative) had lied about to us (family).. I didn't tell anyone but I will never trust facebook or any other social network site with all that about me. I am increasingly hearing about people who closed their pages because of the many people and the "out of control" burden it created to them.

I like being on the internet, chatting with people of different background and educational levels and experiences. I like making friends but not in the crazy way facebook represents. I like to keep it moderate and as a way to spend fun/ useful and mind nourishing time with certain number of people, not to gasp all the time adding/ replying/ joining/ pocking, inviting...etc.
