I was trying to remember the relationship too - I don't think her mother, maybe an aunt? I was surprised that I didn't remember Colleen's family was Protestant. Did Colleen convert or was the Protestant only on one side and she was raised on the other? -- Cindy's Cottage

Thrawny and Joan are half brother and sister to Colleen and therefore much older. They are related through the second marriages of Thrawny and Joan's father to Colleen's mother. So they were raised Protestant, Colleen was raised Catholic. (NT) -- celtgirl, 11:35:26 08/14/09 Fri
- Wow now there's a story I bet - a Catholic & Protestant trying to make a go of it in N. Ireland. You'd think that others around them would see that as a sign, but I guess not. I too thought it was her mom at first then figured no, traditionally children got their faith from their moms so it must've been a Protestant father and Joan was an Aunt.   - I wasn't sure if Thrawny was Protestant playing both sides or a Catholic and playing both sides. Whatever he does, it seems to eat him up and so much so that he drinks himself into oblivion or perhaps that is due to something else.
