am not terribly fond of the FBI's tactics in general, especially since J. Edgar Hoover would have probably had some knowledge of this caper. Ewww.

My initial thinking was that a man like Love Hagerty has lots of resources at his fingertips, including someone else higher up in the Federal government. Even though she'd be Hagerty's 'girl,' she was also basically a nobody, and therefore just as expendable as all the others in his organization, were he to learn the truth. I resented Gus asking such a sacrifice of Pamela, especially when he dangled the carrot of Casey's safety. And I just hated that Pamela gave this thing serious consideration. I hated it for Casey's sake, and was also afraid that she was simply tightening the noose around her own neck. The idea that Hagerty wanted Pamela's very soul made it all the more personal and threatening, imo, as if sex alone wasn't bad enough. All the deceit, all the acting she'd have to do for Casey. I remember wishing they'd just try to escape into NY or Canada.
