Subject: He goes nearly as far as telling him, doesn't he? I think he probably didn't want to create a scene in front of the guests. If he is trying to "go legit," he likely has some prominent political figures there in the party. He's got to mind his image if he wants to be mainstream.
In reply to: Carla 's message, "Chapter 16: I love how Casey marches in and reclaims Pamela. He calls Love on what he's done in front of all those people, stands up to him in the library and then leaves with his wife. I have to say my heart was in my throat the first time I read this, wondering if Love was going to tell Casey where Pamela had spent the last few months. Why do you think he holds this info back, knowing how much it would devastate him?" on 11:20:19 08/04/09 Tue

  • I think Love wants to completely possess Pamela and believes he has paid the price. By exchanging Casey's life for Pamela's body (and her soul), he smugly recognizes that he has the opportunity to give her the life she was born to live while damaging the relationship between Casey and Pamela. The only stumbling block is the reappearance of Casey, and a well-placed bullet will take care of that. If Love is the one to inform Casey of the affair, he loses Pamela, too. Better to wait for the day Pamela turns to him as either widow or divorcee. (NT) -- Sallie (), 13:20:54 08/04/09 Tue
  • Exactly, Sallie- he knows that to tell Casey about the affair is to lose Pamela. Unfortunately for him, he doesn't have the wherewithal to realize he never really had her anyway. (NT) -- celtgirl, 15:13:29 08/04/09 Tue
  • Your good Sallie :-) I wish I thought this way - motive/action/consequence but I don't - I guess I only think/feel on the surface. I don't know, I'm probably not making any sense..I just know I don't 'see' some of these things automatically :-\ I haven't re-read this chapter yet, but I remember being nervous that Love would tell Casey and I felt awful for Casey standing outside those windows looking in - oh and I wished Casey would just end it now and kick Love's ass in front of all his lofty friends *g* (NT) -- Mahri, 15:40:05 08/04/09 Tue
