According to what Casey tells Pamela, when they first meet the American girl, it's Robin who is interested in her and Casey knows this. But when she comes on to Casey, he goes with her and the relationship goes from there.

So, I see Robin's grudge (as unreasonable as it is) being based in the fact that Casey "took" this girl from him and then she only took Robin on after Casey dumped her.

I think Robin is so damaged from life with his parents and then falling in with the wrong element in the IRA that he can't reason clearly. I think there's also a lot of unspoken jealousy there, too: Casey had the loving dad and brother, a good home, brains, etc. while Robin got S.F.A. in his view.
