Subject: It's a public venue- a local pub that's got a really nice atmosphere. I have to pay to have the venue for the night, pay for the food etc. Outside food other than a cake cannot be brought in. Champagne etc has to be bought in-house, which I get . I doubt anyone has ever been to a book launch party before, so they aren't coming with expecations.
In reply to: Tracy 's message, "You are at Begbie's still? Sorry if I get the name wrong. I think in that case, you could charge a small fee. Yes, you could charge for alcohol but if no one or only a few drink in order not to pay then you will still be footing the bill for the free food. I think people I haven't been to a launch so not sure so if Carla is accurate that the food is free there might be an expectation for that and then all they have to domes avoid the alcohol so it's all free for them. Not saying people will do this but I've seen it in other circumstances. The girls are right, it's a tough call so you will have to go with what you are comfortable with. Can the venue help ou out in any way with the cost? Can you do finger goods or something less expensive?can anyone donate any of the food?" on 15:36:00 04/15/12 Sun
