Subject: (75.3) They re-committed themselves to each other, that was a huge step in the right direction. Now the barrier to further dialogue has been removed. (75.4) It had to be. If Hagerty couldn't kill him, then the city of Boston would have eventually. She wouldn't want Casey to be any different, even if she can barely stand the fear and violence. This is who he is, the man she fell in love with. To change him would be the same as killing him. And part of herself would die as well.

I don't think Casey would have done it...no that he wouldn't want to, but he also didn't want to tie her to his violent life; however, I am sure in time, he would have realized that she wasn't going to leave him whether they married or not, and so he would more than likely have proposed, eventually.
