the jfk tapes released yesterday. mom called and said turn on NBC news. i listened to the tapes. kennedy was saying, how we don't want a coup.

and it would be really bad if that nym guy got assassinated.

wink wink? brian williams said that nym guy and his brother, the leaders of someplace called south vietnam, were stuffed into a van a couple of weeks later, the coup is on, and were murdered.

did i read/hear that correctly? Kennedy had already blown it at bay of pigs and didn't want to be internationally embarrassed again?

now let me follow this. if the leaders of s. vietnam were murdered, it had to be the communists taking over, right? isn't that what we were told?

kinda like WMDs?

these tapes listening to the president's own voice in *secret meetings* makes me even more confused about what we were doing in vietnam in 1963.
