Subject: Food for thought....

I was recently listening to a interview with Pelosi and as it went on I thought, "wow, she is a real bitch". This had nothing to do with her political stance, but more her attitude toward the interviewer. Then I stopped for a moment....did I think this becuase she was rude and curt, or if it were a man would I have thought nothing of it since he was just deflecting harsh questioning. I guess the whole debate in my head got me thinking. As a woman that has fought hard to make it in a tough profession and balance work and family, I take pride in honoring powerful and sucessful women. But has our world made us think that women like pelosi are bitches because they are strong. I guess I don't know the answer, but it was an interesting question.

I have added the link to the NPR interview and another editorial as food for thought. Given that many of you are women what do you think? The links are not for the political content (I think it is obvious many of the people here disagree on that) but more about the perception of the women.

In full disclosure: I am neither a Dem or a Rep. I stand firmly in the middle. I voted for Obama and Kerry in the last elections, but Bush before that (could not stand Gore). I find lots to hate on both sides right now. I am actually not a big fan of Pelosi, but I do love Sonja Sotamayore (is that how you spell it ???)

I think Nancy Peloci gave an excellent interview in which she educated the questioner about how the government process works and what Committee does and what the House is planning to do.

About the CIA: she ponited out, correctly, that it is the Republicans who are creating a distraction, right now because the don't want the Committee to dig into CIA's actions. Don't you want to know the truth? That's the one thing that's beautiful about a democtratic process, the truth does come out eventually. I liked how she phrased it that the CIA might have the custody of intelligence but the Committe has the right to find out if the methods to get that intelligence were proper and lawful...

She answered questions about healthcare being a right not a priviledge.

Most of all she again and again answered that she only speaks for the House and not the Senate.

I thought that the interviewer didn't have a neutral tone at all. I even went to the trouble of listening only to the questions by themselves, editing out the answers, just to confirm my first impression.

In conclusion, I probably have a completely different take on this whole ball of wax, because I don't have a stake in all of this. I'm just interested in politics, that's all...
