Protests against war died off after election
Published: August 16, 2009
Section: Editorial & Comment

Where are all those anti-war protesters? You know, the ones standing on the corners, on the news, etc. Is the war over? Who won? Or were these people really just hating then-President George W. Bush and couldn't care less about bringing our troops home? Wasn't President Barack Obama going to bring them home?

Why are they not holding Obama to his word? Their silence speaks volumes.

I read an article last night concerning Charlie Gibson saying re: Ms. Sheehan "Enough already!". Strange, huh. Same war, same protest, same distraught mother, VERY different coverage. Remember the media covering her protests at Crawford TX? Another double standard, another blatant display of hypocrisy.

There are still others, too. The media coverage has moved to other things,I guess. I never protested because of news, I just always felt it was the right thing to do.

and when someone chooses to protest that should be the reason: because they think it is the right thing to do. My gripe is not with the protesters, it is with the media. I have always felt so bad for Cindy Sheehan, she lost her son (a horror I cannot even imagine) to a war she didn't believe in. To add insult to injury, she was used by the media and opportunists and now has been discarded.
