to make Republicans look bad. Rooting for failure by our new president is A-OK, just don't let Rahm Emanuel call them on it.

I also hope the President's policies will fail. I have no desire to live in a Socialist welfare state. He is increasing the size of government by leaps and bounds... and there is no end in sight. The economy is on the verge of collapse. How does it make sense to increase government spending so dramatically at a time like this? I don't want his abortion free-for-all policies to succeed either. My personal belief is that they are immoral. The list could go further, but what is the point?

This does not mean that in any way shape or form that I want my country to fail or even that I want him to fail. I want his policies to fail.

Keep in mind that I have NO desire to dredge up all the hatred of Bush that was displayed in the last eight years, but I do not see why it is so shocking for the left to hear that someone wants the President to fail. That is all I heard, from Uncle Teddy to Harry Reid to Algore regarding G W Bush and any and all of his policies.

As far as Rahm Emanuel goes, no worries. We've got Karl, you guys have Rahm.

The usual response to saying you hope Obama fails is to change that to "you hope America fails." My response is that no President IS America. Obama is NOT America any more than Bush was America. It's a crappy little game they play so they can tag you as a non-patriotic traitor if you don't back the presidents policies. And Obama is only getting 5% of the crap they themselves threw at Bush!

Sounds the same to me as all the people who claimed that if we did not support the war we were unsupportive of the troups.

stop with the "socialist" stuff; it's offensive.

[> [> [> [> [> [> Just to re-iterate: -- JennyJenkins: reminding that GWB is still the bogeyman..., 16:28:41 03/06/09 Fri [1]

"The architect of this new era of big government? History has a sense of humor, for the man who laid the foundations for the world Obama now rules is George W. Bush, who moved to bail out the financial sector last autumn with $700 billion.

Bush brought the Age of Reagan to a close; now Obama has gone further, reversing Bill Clinton's end of big government. The story, as always, is complicated. Polls show that Americans don't trust government and still don't want big government. They do, however, want what government delivers, like health care and national defense and, now, protections from banking and housing failure."
