There is so much negative stuff online about this, I'll let you do your own research but I would like to go on record today as saying this G.I.V.E scares the crap out of me. Yes, I'm all for our nation's young people volunteering more. But FORCING THEM TO? And by the way, the phrase "mandatory volunteerism" is just a wee bit of an oxymoron, no? And then telling them what it is they can and can't spend their "time" doing (none of which can be in any way related to anything religious like something so horrible as , oh say, building a church) is just ridiculous.

It blows my mind that this has ALREADY PASSED THE HOUSE. Yes, I can read and I know that the mandatory volunteerism is not in it YET, but the request to put together a committee to investigate just that IS. One step at a time to socialism.

And by the way, what happened to Obama's pledge to cut the national debt in half? Maybe I read it wrong. Maybe he said he wanted to double it?

Everything I have read about it scares me - but there is a lot more to learn. I cannot believe that anyone would go along with Mandatory Volunteerism (oxymoron indeed) for their kids, though... would they?

There are too many parellels to the past here.

It amazes me that people who screamed about the theft of their rights for 8 years now embrace handing them over with a smile. And they think I am fucked up.
