for religious reasons. One of things I definitely disagree with him on. He says "I'm a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman."

He did vote against a Federal Marriage Amendment and opposed the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996. He us in support of letting the states decide about same-sex marriage.

Obama might not either without the efforts of community activists who fought for civil rights through history. There was a huge protest rally in West Hollywood last night and I know we'll keep trying to end discrimination based on sexual orientation. I just wonder if my co-workers' marriages will now be annulled? One of the couples ( who have children BTW) have been together 30 years. Another woman I know has been with her partner for 32 years and they were so happy to get married. It breaks my heart.
