Subject: It's been great....

watching the preparations for the inauguration. I was moved seeing Pete Seeger sing "This Land is Your Land" with Bruce Springsteen to the huge crowd at the mall. The country is ready for a change, and polls show most people are feeling positive about the Obama presidency. Tomorrow will be a great day for our country, and I for one, am thrilled that we will have Barack Obama to lead us.

I haven't been home enough to watch any of the parades or anything, I wish I'd known to tape Pete Seeger, though - LOVE him.

I have set my 2 DVRs to record the CNN coverage and the ABC coverage all day today - I hope I have time to sit and watch it all again soon! I know I'll see the highlights all over the news, but this is HISTORY - I don't want to miss a thing.

I have a lot of hope now for the USA. We will have a leader who is not influenced by big business, one who has as a goal getting our troops HOME, and who is not trying to convince us that the economy is going swimmingly. He has had the chutzpah to say that the recovery will not happen overnight and that things there will get worse before they get better. Hm. An honest statement from our next president.

And to the republicans who feel that our national security is at stake with a democrat in office, baloney. We were not attacked on such a huge scale until a republican was in office, and our resulting retaliation has been a huge failure. You cannot say that a democrat would not have handled such an attack in kind as the dems have not been tested. I pray that our nation is never tested again, but you cannot use the fact that our next president does not focus entirely on the military as a sign of weakness. I personally feel that the Bush administration was totally weak in every other area (economy, education, foreign relations, communication etc), not to mention not so successful in their pet military arena to boot! My statement in the thread below about billions in the red was wrong - I now understand that we are Trillions in the red. We are a debtor country. We are seen as a big bully who is losing our muscle. I see Obama as a healer of the rifts caused over the last 8 years between the US and the rest of the world. Today is a GREAT day for America - WHOOOOO HOOOOOO!!
