Subject: Sell books much?
In reply to: JosieJ 's message, "Thank you, thank you, thank you Scott McClellan!!!" on 16:46:26 05/28/08 Wed

... sounds like another ex-employee with an opinion and an axe to grind. What makes Scott such an authority? What makes him more truthful than say, these folks:

- "There is something about this book that just doesn't make any sense." - Ari Fleischer

- "For two and a half years Scott and I worked shoulder to shoulder at the White House... Not once did Scott approach me -- privately or publicly -- to discuss any misgivings he had about the war in Iraq or the manner in which the White House made the case for war." - Ari Fleischer

- Fleischer said McClellan continued to defend the war even after he left the White House.

- Like (Karl) Rove, Fleischer said the book didn't "sound like Scott," and that McLellan told him on Tuesday that "his editor 'tweaked some things closely in the last couple months.'"

- "Scott, we now know, is disgruntled about his experience at the White House." - McClellan's White House successor Dana Perino.

"For those of us who fully supported him, before, during and after he was press secretary, we are puzzled. It is sad -- this is not the Scott we knew." - Dana Perino

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Hope he makes it to the New York Times bestseller list for fiction. ;-D

Ari Fleischer and Dana Perino are still too closely involved right now - of course they'd try to discount the book, as will any Bush/Cheney/Rove cronies. Let's see what they have to say in 10 years.

McClellan is validating truths that we have pretty much known all along. He got tired of lying and covering up for Rove, Rumsfeld and Cheney, and finally feels that he's far enough removed from the whole thing to say what needs to be said. Good on 'im.

now he is credible? Sheesh.

His Mama down here in Texas - the self-proclaimed "one tough Grandma", has been a democrat, then a republican and was of late, an independent running for the Governor of Texas spot. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

So he got tired of lying and covering up? Are you sure?

Yup. Pretty damn sure.

He WAS a liar for the years he was on the WH payroll. He HAD to be. He was as much of a pawn as Colin Powell was. He tried to stay loyal to his former employer/s, but his conscience got the best of him.

What his mother does in her career is of no consequence...don't know her, don't know anything about her...but she apparently raised a boy who, when he thinks it all through, does the right thing. So kudos to both of them.

first of all - I posted here yesterday (a response) then completely lost my connection ---- grrrrr!

I tend to go with "once a liar, always a liar". Why would ANYONE put his entire life - you know this is a 24/7 job - into a job where you lie and cover for your employer all day? No one HAS TO. It is a choice. It then calls into question your future choices.

I just find it amazing that now that his opinions match those of the Bush Haters, he is Mr. Truth. I am skeptical about a lot of things, including his honesty.

As for his Mom - pretty interesting woman - Carol Keeton Strayhorn. Worth a Google if you are inclined.

those peeps that get access to the Oval on a daily basis start saying *whatever* to keep their job.

I could tell Scott was lying in those daily press conferences when his eyes started to squint.

I don't see his eyes squinting anymore.

He was good at his job!
