I'm not afraid of her. I'm more afraid of John McCain.

I really don't understand all of this hoopla about her pregnant 17 year old daughter. I could not care less about her private life unless it involves breaking the law. There is no chance I'd ever vote for Ms. Palin, but it has nothing to do with her children.

find the overall soap opera kind of amusing. Apparently, the boyfriend/future shotgun groom is quite trashy. Lots of raunch on his myspace (which he has probably now been "asked" to remove. But none of that is really important in the big picture.
Troopergate is a more serious matter.
As much as I dislike this VP candidate, I take great offense to the gender-based criticism of her being a working mother with a few kids and questions of whether she should be running for office based on that status. I don't hear that crap about male candidates with young kids.

so that you as a working mother would get all fired up and vote for her.

it's straight out of his playbook.

it's got his name all over it.

I'm not a working mother. I'm just working. My a$$ off. I don't care about her or her brood.

She leaves me lukewarm about their chances.

Palin is very personable and photogenic which offsets McCain's unhealthy pallor and appearance. To me he looks like a very old 72. I gave her speech a B- and her chances of being VP around 10%. If McCain was younger and in better health it might go differently but there's that "heartbeat away from the presidency" thing. I don't think ultra conservative Republicans are ready for a woman president and I think McCain should have gone with someone a bit less contraversial.

I don't agree with her political stance on most issues but they weren't getting my vote no matter who they picked for VP. I don't care about her child having Downs or her kid being pregnant at age 17. I don't care about her personal life anymore than I cared about Bill and Hillary's personal life when they were in the White House. But I do think when you choose to run for the second highest office in the country you leave yourself and your family's lives open to media and public scrutiny and in this day in age; you take a chance it won't be comfortable or pleasant.

I remember being surprised the media down here never mentioned Jeb Bush's daughter. It wasn't until she was busted buying crack on the street that it made the local news. Apparently the press knew for years she was a crack head and agreed not to put it in the news; I was surprised they didn't jump all over that.
