It looks complex, but in fact it isn’t. By discourse analysis of context, the authors mean the analysis of the co-text, that is the text which came before and after the bit of language we are analyzing. This, say, surrounding text, brings linguistic choices speakers or writers made (using a word instead of another, for example). Their cognitive choices refer to the reasoning (their thinking process) which made them choose that particular language item.
By pragmatic analysis of context, the authors mean the study of the outside context – who the speakers and hearers are (their age, gender, background etc), where they are, what kind of event they are taking part and other aspects which might influence linguistic choice but all of which are outside the text.
