Yeah Patrick, I understand what you are saying on using nigger or gay...I guess I just feel like it is a word that should be able to be used in certain context such as reporting or in the educational system. My professor, although she was black, used it in our African American History class...so if a white professor were to teach African American History...should he or she not be allowed to say the word without people getting upset...I guess my argument is that it is a word whether it is an ugly word or not...it is still a word. I just don't like to seem like I am afraid to say the word because I don't feel we should be...as always, it is my personal feeling; don't expect anyone to agree with me. We say bitch although it defines a female dog...it has been used as a derogatory term towards our women...I know it is not the same as using nigger, but I was using it as another example of a word meaning something negative. As for the rap music today, I agree with you regarding finding a more positive way to reach our youth...
