Tim, I agree with you and I would like to add that often times we are afraid of expressing our emotions because of the possibility of others ridiculing us, not to pull the gender card - but men in particular are afraid of showing and expressing their emotions. We kind of touched on this in the last class visit that men are more likely to feel they have to be "hard" and alot of boys are not allowed to express their emotions which causes them to bottle their feelings...when children aren't taught how to deal with their emotions and channel negative emotions elsewhere, they grow up not knowing how to deal with them and when they become parents, they will have a hard time teaching their children. I think we should open our children minds to freely expressing themselves but at the same time, embrace them enough to teach them that it's okay to cry, scream, yell but after it's all said and done, they need to talk about why they felt that way...often times, they don't..
