Subject: pageant dresses

HELP!! PLEASE, I have been reading alot on how to make a pageant dress and am more confused than ever...I did purchase the DVD from My pageant kid website. Although it is a wonderful video, she doesn't talk about what fabrics to purchase and what parts of the dress those fabrics are needed. Like do I use spandex or Lycra for the bodice? If so, do I also do a lining? What fabrics do i use for the lining? I'm assuming it would also have to stretch right? Also, on the skirt, do i alternate one layer chiffon next layer organza and so on? what fabric am I hooking the chiffon and organza strips to?
