- Not sure what I am doing wrong -- Kiesha, 23:45:06 02/12/08 Tue [4]
I made a skirt based from mypageantkid patterns. When I first made it, I didn't understand the sewing Cs to Os part so I just hemmed each layer with a rolled edge on my srger. There were 6 single layers and two ruffled liner layers. The top layers came out okay but weren't rolled very tight. A designer friend of mine corrected me and told me that 3 organza layers are stitched together end to end making a bigger C that I turn into an O and then roll hem the three layers together. Well I did that making two 3 layer pieces that I hemmed. Well, those came out practically flat and the skirt looks like crap. What am I missing? Do I really have to put the single layers together?

I have a question about adding ruffles. Alot of the casual and themed wear outfits have extra ruffles added to the bottom of the pants. Is there a pattern for that, Or do you just cut some material a couple inches wide and put it on there. Can I just take a normal pants pattern and add ruffles to the bottom?
Also, does anyone have any tips on making it look ruffly, do you like kinda fold it over (almost like pleating it) while sewing?

I know I will need some straight pins and a seam ripper. Can anyone suggest other accessories I may need? And also what type of fabric do you suggest starting out with?
