1: Robert Johnson's deal with the devil was to fine tune his guitar in exchange for Robert's soul. this deal is faustian because robert gives up his soul to obtain power and knowlege in the form of great musicianship...
2: Robert Johnson was born into a world where african and european music have been combining for hundreds of years which still had an element of hoodoo or shackle songs. because this was the dominant music form for robert in his childhood, he was inspired by it and it influenced his music. he learned about hoodoo in the Mississippi delta
3. the tale of Robert Johnson and the crossroads can be a metaphor for all musicians, but not always. this is the same principle as present day artists "selling out". truly dedicated artists will not give up anything to make it big but some do. Robert Johnson valued fame and fortune over musicianship so he sold his soul, which metaphorically happens more and more everyday.
4. I would wait at the crossroads for a can of rockstar because i really want one and i spend my money on McDonalds breakfast this morning :(
