Subject: NEA Football: The race for 2nd place!

Here are the possible senarios for the upcoming football games.

Given: Lakeside is league champion and #1 seed into the crossover with CTL #4 (Tonasket?)

Senario #1: Colfax is the #2 seed if they beat Freeman and if Chewelah (1-7) upsets Kettle Falls (5-3).
Records: Colfax (6-3), Kettle Falls (5-4), Freeman (4-5).
~No tiebreaker needed.

Senario #2: Kettle Falls is the #2 seed if they beat Chewelah and Freeman beats Colfax.
Records: Kettle Falls (6-3), Colfax (5-4), Freeman (5-4). ~The tie between Colfax and Freeman would be broken via a number draw since both teams will be on the road for the crossover game anyway.

Senario #3: If Kettle Falls and Colfax both win both teams will have 6-3 records. Freeman would fall to 4-5 and have the #4 crossover seed.
~Since the difference would mean hosting a crossover game and having to travel to the Wenatchee Valley, I imagine this would mean a playoff game between the two teams at a neutral site on Tuesday the 30th at 7pm. There could also be the number draw to determine who stays home and who travels.

Senario #4: Freeman could be the #2 seed if a) they beat Colfax, b) Chewelah upsets Kettle Falls and c) then win a three-way tiebreaker.
~I would imagine a Kansas City tiebreaker would be used to break the three-way tie at a nuetral field, Tuesday, October 30.

No Tiebreaker will happen. We did a preseason draw. The only time we would play it off is if some team was left out--not for home field in x-over.

I am a bit surprised with this because of the possibilily of playing at home or traveling. That could be such a huge difference. I would much rather play at home if it is possible. I can understand not wanting to play and beating each other up before the playoffs begin. Anyway thanks for the information!

Here are the results of the pre-season number draw for ties in the NEA.

"Just like last year, District 7 decided not to play anything off unless it was between #4 and #5 for play off implications.
The top 4 are set. The order of teams are unknown until Thursday night.
Before the season began, the NEA drew numbers in case of ties between 1-3.
Here are the numbers."

1 - Lakeside
2 - Newport
3 - Freeman
4 - Kettle Falls
5 - Chewelah
6 - Colfax

Not me---Preparing for and playing a "mini-game", and then having a short week to prepare for a loser out game puts you at a huge disadvantage. Home field advantage is not that big of a deal. Look at last years x-overs. Only one home team, Okanagon, won.
