Sometimes it's nice to watch and listen
to a simple thing like a river flowing on TV.
With the flat screen and my surround sound
I almost feel as if I am right there.

Yesterday I watched a documentary about the Amazon.
They figured out that if they talk less the river
speaks clearer and louder in a viewers mind than
their words or voices ever could. Once you FEEL
the scene and get a sense of what they are talking
about you'll listen more intently because your
senses get tuned in.

I don't know why they don't do that more on TV.
Sometimes saying nothing at all says ten thousand words.
Today it seems that flashing from one quick scene
to another is the way to go. I don't believe that.
It's just another example of another machine that
force feeds us into believing that's what we want.

What we really want is humor with great timing,
drama with integrity, dialect with a sense for pause
and more shows about real people instead of
the eye candy mental dwarf characters the
producers deliver to us.

It's no wonder the writers are on strike. If I had
to write some of those shows the way they
want them written I'd demand more money too.

...........and the beat goes on!
