] Date Posted: 08:26:15 11/10/07 Sat I posted this at my own site and thought I'd share it here if you all don't mind. *~*~*~*~ I thought I'd share this with all of you and ask you this same question. Over time, I've had some great laughs at the misconceptions of what a witch is and what they look like. Ironically, there is still an awful lot of that misconception going around. Recently, I had an altercation with someone, whom I believe is a dark entitiy practicing the darker arts, and forever wishing ill on one or another unsuspecting individual. In the height of our confrontation, she blurted out, and in effect pretty much admitted, what and who she is. Which I thought was kind of ironic! Anyways, she blurts out, "Oh you don't know who you're dealing with!" I looked at her and went, "Um...yep, I do!" Then silence for a moment ensued while she quickly scrambled through her brain to respond to this. Did she honestly think I couldn't "sense" who and what she was?? LOL Get real! But, on the lighter side of things, I have practiced "white magick" for a good many years, and only do so when there is a need. I have too much respect for the energies and for Mother Earth, the Divine and the Gods and Goddess to squander and exploit the gifts that we all have and are able to utilize to manifest a better life for ourselves, never excluding our hardships, for there is honor even in this too. Sadly though, many are still greedy, selfish, jealous and can't discern what is a "true need". In doing so, they harm many, and never take responsibility for it. This is the part that irritates me, that so many can do this without ever considering another's feelings when they perform the "darker magick". Sadly though, that old saying does come into play, and the law of three is quickly engaged once they send out such negativity. Always mindful of our thoughts, as thoughts are deeds as well, unperformed, but the seed of those actions before fruition. Keeping in tune with the laws of the Universe, the Wiccan Rede, and other rules of engagement that encompass the ulitmate of respect, diligence and integrity when discerning what can be done or not. So, I live with this dark force coming at me, knowing that the light will carry me and protect me as long as I embrace it and continue about my life, fulfilling my own duties and responsibilites for my own actions, thoughts and beliefs. Another experience brought me to a couple of women, who truly held the commercial beliefs of what and who a witch is, or looked like, made me think, "Wow, there really is alot of misconceptions out there!" We, are like everyone else. We live our lives peacefully, with integrity, with respect, with love, with positive reflections to ourselves and others around us. We bring with us the intentions of peace, and unity as one. Once, a long time ago, I might have and probably in some cases, would cringe at someone knowing my beliefs! I have come to learn that I am who I am, and I am ok with that; however, the negative connotations are still alive and kicking out there, so I must still be diligent in discerning who knows my beliefs and practices. Not that I am ashamed, I just feel it is my right to be who I am privately, and sharing with like-minded individuals is ok for me. I am like everyone else. I have a family, responsibilities and desire to live a peaceful life, and finding myself to be at peace with that. I enjoy sharing, learning and growing with everyone else. Those that are out there, that I have encountered like the two ladies, brought me to this thought; that is yet, still alot to dispell in the belief systems that exist, due to societal misgiving and misunderstandings. That old saying, "ignorance is bliss" comes to play often between my closest cirlce of friends, when we realized that ten years ago or so, we were still just as ignorant of the facts, the truth and the beauty of our choice to be who we are. But in becoming "aware" there also came the responsibilty to use it wisely, embrace it with utmost love, and carry out our beliefs with the utmost respect for everyone around us. Quite the responsibilty. There are times we truly feel, that when life gets overwhelming, we'd love to be able to be "ignorant" LOL, but we cannot, because we have grown immensely spiritually and cannot ignore that fact in itself. So, witches are not what the movies have depicted, are not what Halloween costumes have designed, nor are we what most "ignorant" believers ASSUME we are. We are normal, loving and peaceful people who live our lives in accordance to the great laws of peace, in connection to all things viable and real, always connected to our true Source, or Higher Powers that Be. Date Posted: 08:54:53 11/10/07 Sat Well Tammy, my good friend, I have to tell you that andy just doesn't believe in any of it. That's not to say that my opinion is right, just that my beliefs don't allow for such things. That said, it was interesting to read for a few different reasons. One being my belief that people do carry and energy and an essence with them. You can't see it but, you sure can feel it. So, in reading your words I was thinking about how people who believe in something strong enough just might be able to use that unseen energy in evil ways to accomplish their tasks. Still, I don't believe in witchcraft at all but, I do think it is possible for our auras to project in such a way that we don't quite understand. Anyway, hot stuff, nice blog. Date Posted: 10:26:33 11/10/07 Sat Hey Andy... That unseen energy is very real and capable. IT is the magick and the power that is utilized in manifesting anything. Spells are just that..a manifestation of energy/thoughts transferred via the auric/energy fields. I don't dispute anyone's belief system, merely wanted to point out what you have said as well... So, in reading your words I was thinking about how people who believe in something strong enough just might be able to use that unseen energy in evil ways to accomplish their tasks. Touche my dear. Date Posted: 21:46:40 11/29/07 Thu As a physicist, I don't believe in either spiritual side here, but, having recently come to a small town, I understand that those small minded, hollywood inspired suppositions run rampant, and I'm constantly astounded by the prejudices. Not only when I say "My best friend in Connecticut is Wiccan", but when I say something as simple as "It is a universe of infinite possibilities." But I think what it all comes down to is energy. In physics, in auras, in spells and prayers, we're all expending our energy hoping to change energy flows in our lives. So I'm sending good vibes and positive ions and prayers when I say to you, be a proud witch, and namaste and blessed be. I enjoyed reading your blog. ;) Jess |

Having worked in the computer industry after living with a chemist for some years I have found artists and scientist to be quite different in their thought patterns and beliefs.
