It is a highway we are traveling on, all our lives, or so the elders said.
You know, the lingo, "further down the highway things will be looking up."

It's a bit telling when you stop and think about it. I think it has much to
say about how we as people often view our lives. If I were to ask you
to write down the first ten words you thought of when I said HIGHWAY,
I'd bet seven of them aren't too good for us at all.

So, that about settled it for me. My life wasn't going to be about any
highway any more than it was going to be about a crystal clear
mountain stream.

You can't complete a definition of life without writing ten books and failing
anyway.

Moving on, I figured my life was going to be a grand aventure.
Not some, lugging the baggage down
the highway, burdensome journey.

Now, looking back I realize it was my perception of life and my attitude
that carried me through loss and disappointment.

Hell, if you are on an adventure and you fall off a cliff then you learn
to swim the river until you land in some plush valley.

Strange how we are forever ignoring things that are so easily changeable
because we are upsettingly bent on being familiar with ourselves.
The problem is that voice we are listening to is too forgiving and
and far too cautious. It never takes risks and it will always
make you feel good as long as you keep feeding it.

Just remember, It is there to protect you not infect you.

I find it interesting when I hear someone giving a big speech about
how they overcame this, and they overcame that, when in truth they
overcame one thing;

THEMSELVES!

So, for me it was first getting off the highway and then traveling twenty years
in the opposite direction until I finally realized life is nothing more than doing
what's good and what's right all day so you can sleep well at night, knowing
you will fail but, never settling for it.

When it comes time for judging what's right and what's wrong, well, you're
just going to have to trust yourself.

After all you won't take two steps past familiar so why not take the two
steps back and be better friends.

If you get all that, then you got it faster than I did
and then the writin's somehow worth it.

Toss a pebble into a stream and all its rough edges over time smooth away.

...and that should be enough for any man.
especially a man like me.

"Ponderisms"

Yep...definitely a very reflective write, pondering the sequence of one's life events, the truths, the trials, the triumphs and the grandest journey ever made by man!

Each of us travel those same "roads" or "higways" at different speeds, in different vehicles, if that is any inklings to the old saying, which is true in most senses of the word. However, I do understand your philosophy and can appreciate it too.

Anyhow, the idea that we all have to learn valuable lessons in life, is wonderful, it's in "how" and "when" we learn them. If we fail the first time, you can bet your bottom dollar you'll be tested again and again, UNTIL you get it.

So for me, reading this blog means you've done some seriously instrospective work and found some rather very profound answers that have been applied to the ever growing repertoire of valuable lessons learned, in the man that we all have come to know and love.

My heart smiles to read your words each time.

Hugs and love,
Tammy
