] Date Posted: 21:43:21 10/31/07 Wed ~ Walking in through the gates he could be forgiven his nerves as I too, was nervous...for him. Too long away from the crowds he had once known, he had become shy of new faces. But the mum in me kicked in..."head up, Jess, don't you look at the ground...walk in with mana" (mana = pride)...and as he straightened up his spine, my smile widened. We met up with the new teacher...though Jesse wouldn't come into the classroom, so she came out to greet us, and whispered to me "I think I'll go get the boys"...oh good idea, I thought! So, out came the boys - 4 mischievous looking dudes from the back of the class, and I smiled instantly, knowing my boy would be just fine :) The walk back to the car was heartwarming as I felt him light up with excitement..I could hear it in his voice..."oh man this weekend's gonna drag, I just know it", he said, as he glanced around the courtyard, noticing a group of girls looking at him, whispering, and giggling...and he smiled in that oh yeah, roll on Monday, kinda way...lol. We had such a cool weekend, he's still a blur, my boy, but sooooo much more fun to be around, and I'm so proud of how far he has come. So, then Monday came around, and I took him to school, he looks so cool in his new uniform, and we stroll on into the school, towards his new class....and I noticed the boys he met on the Friday, walking across the courts to greet him - we met up with the teacher, and she sent Jesse and his new friends off to get him a desk and she walked me to the car. J's teacher is young and fun, and part Maori, too, so she will be able to understand J's need to connect with his culture...I'm so excited about how supportive and encouraging this new school environment will be for my boy. That first day whizzed by, and soon I was picking him up from school...the walk back to the car was quite different than in the morning, as people all over the place, were calling out to him, saying seeya...and it seemed everywhere we turned there was a girl or two saying "hi Jesse" or "seeya Jesse"...I asked him who they were and he was like "I don't know" LOL. Back at the car he shared with me that a girl likes him..I'm thinking uh ohh lol...but giving him the "well, son, just remember why you're there, ok? ", speech ;) it seems like a long drive home, as I came to the realization that not only is it a time of transition for Jesse...but for me too....and that makes me smile :) just wanted to share a little piece of Kiwi, with those I care about.. *love 'n' hugs* Sash xx ![]() [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

Date Posted: 09:56:49 11/01/07 Thu What's so great about reading this is I feel like I know Jesse well enough to see him right there smiling as the girls say "See ya Jesse!" I also think he reminds me of myself in so many ways when I was his age. The Rugby (I played our Football here) the ADD, all the excess energy, the guitar, so many things that you know already. Reading this for me was really special even though you and I talked about it already. It just brought it right into my day and I sat here and smiled feeling proud for him and also for you even though you realize your little boy is not a little boy anymore. Love Ya Kiwi! andy |

Date Posted: 07:21:47 11/02/07 Fri Sash, I know these smiles and growing pains all too well these days. We've talked about our kids and how they're growing so quickly into their own people often, you and I. I'm so glad to read this here. Love hearing your life and mine has been so busy lately that I feel like I've been missing you! I've no claim to any of it, of course, but still I share your pride in Jesse, and I sure do love the mom you are. *huge hugs* Love you, Sash! ~Shae |

Date Posted: 19:53:14 11/06/07 Tue ~ oh it will be...both Jesse and I, and a team of people have worked very hard for this to happen... but the core factor to all the progress made, is that Jesse *wanted* to change... thanks for taking a moment to read this thread, T girl... *hugs* Sash xx ![]() |
