You misunderstood me...I was talking a about the 3 year old who WON. The one with the "naughty" bo peep outfit on wearing "stripper" knee- hi's, and a very short dress. The little girl with Sunday Best dress on, with her OWN hair, and NO make-up on DID NOT WIN, but should have! That was my point! None of the "normal" looking children won or barely even placed. I competed in pageants from the time I was 4 years old until 20 years of age, and have held NUMEROUS pageant titles! I have judged many pageants over the years, as well! But in all those years of competition, I always had my own hair, my own eyes, my own teeth, and they were not just all festival ones that I competed in, either! I now have an older daughter who is a festival queen, and yes I have been around pageants my entire life(Going on 40 years now!!!). I don't know what has happened in recent years to pageants, but I feel like we are teaching our young ones to dress like little "tramps" by dressing them that way! No ONE wants to see a baby dressed like a street walker - I don't care who you are. I just felt you should have advertised that this was a "GLITZ" pageant, because I would have not attended. I was not one of the people talking about the contestants, I just overheard OTHER audience members talking. I am glad now that I can voice my opinion to the director, instead of just being horrified at what I saw that day. I do, however, donate money every year to St. Jude's and think it is a worthy cause! I am not hiding behind my computer, I just feel like others should be aware of what type of pageant this is in case they are caught off guard like I was, and planned on entering their "normal" looking children in the future!
