A Poets Prayer - Poem number IV.

they cadenced their days
titillating hours
in the vacant lots of deception
one grand scheme begot another
until they themselves
believed they were winners

this metered earth
that rhythms in new dawns
whose heartbeat is our only hope
whose rain is both its tears
and fruitful feast

.............it is the thunder
that shall always claim the victory
of a new sun bursting on a gold horizon

no man can rise above truth
no demon shall possess a righteous soul

they walk in dark alleys
stubbing toes on cracked cement
as Venus winks an eye's moon
in the reclamation of a fools defeat

let the poets voice be heard
let it ring from the mountaintops
let it be the song that fills all vacuums

until the weary rise again
until the hope of peace
provides the light of promise
when a new day arrives
when the darkness is
at once defeated
if only for one
moment

we have marched into the desert
we have danced amongst the stars
we have walked among the homeless
we have broken our own hearts

and still the poems of ages
rise above these ashes
from the cinders of eternal souls
they sing of new hope
as the moon tides the oceans
of the musers souls
as this sphere spins toward tomorrows
as we cry ourselves to sleep
as we sing our greatest joys
may we remember

The Power Of A Pen

may we understand the voice inside
enough to bend and help another
who has fallen on a lonely time
as the bent reeds blow in winds
may the wisdom of our poems
burst into an azure sky

and fall down as confetti
to feed the soul starved stranger

I ring the chimes of poetry
I celebrate the muse

I call to all of you at once

Get out of your own way
let your verse be king
let you voices ring
let your words be forever fearless
and together one poem at a time
we shall forever
change the world
