Tell Me, Crystal Ball
Tell Me, Crystal Ball

Tell me, Crystal Ball,
I have been asked to marry.
Tell me now,
before he wakes at dusk.
Should I say~ Yes ~
He hardly knows me
yet he wants me for his bride.
He asks me now
to stay with him
to make our home together
and this
our marriage bed.

I have never known
another to compare
nor has my heart ever leapt
inside my breast as it does now.
The sight of him
the scent of him
those eyes
that penetrate my soul!

I am caught by love!
Love . . .
a rhapsody unfolding.
I am drawn to him
like the dove is to the sky.
I yearn for his kiss and his touch.
Consumed in his embrace
my breath escapes
with longing sighs.

Shall I give in?
Shall I trust
his spirit so familiar
to my soul already?

I remember how the words fell
from his lips . . .
~Will you be my Bride?~
I turned to see his face
his being
true of voice
his eyes filled with love
bespeaking kindness and fidelity.
He looks at me at certain times
as if he’s waken
from a dream come true.

Yesterday, I was just a child
seated at my mother’s feet
attentive to her sonnets
read in candlelight.
A maiden now am I
with right to choose
fair love or live without.

Oh Fate . . . I am torn
and ripped apart
my heart in tremors
at the thought
that this could be
the Sonnet of My Life!

Make haste my heart
with answer true . . .
my answer . . . Yes!!

Love does not reside within a Crystal Ball!

What beauty, wisdom, and grace you leave here
for us upon our screens. You put a heart upon
a page in such a natural and sincere way that
reading you becomes a process that lights the
soul.

Love-------- When you find it, don't let it go,
work on it, invest in it, treat it with respect,
and kindness, for it is alone the greatest gift
available to us all.

I absolutely love to read you and was not at
all surprised to find Jeri's tribute to your
words here at our Motel.

Thanks Willow for the warm glow you've
added to my day.

smiles,
andy

Thank you so much, Janel.
The image was the inspiration for my poem. It was actually a response to "The Proposal" which I should have posted along with it. Oh well, I'll have to find a way to post them together.
Cheers!

~ Ohhh wow....Joanne, this is a double treat for me tonight

firstly, I am a fan of your poetry...this piece is truly romantic
and a beautiful expression of love

and secondly, I am a fan of the art of John William Waterhouse
this painting is my fave by him, and I have actually written 2 poems
to this image, over the years, one of them a sonnet

stunning beauty upon this page...thank you...love it!!!

*hugs*

Sash xx
