I saw what you did to her
I was there as you watched,
Through your vodka misted eyes,
As she writhed in pain and
Her life began to leave her.

I remained the thorn
in your side and bore
the brunt of your hidden rage
I wore it with pride
someone had to do it.

For so long I have buried
Those dark feelings at the back
Of my heart, there in the shadows
Where I cannot see your name,
Under lock and key.

Today, just the sound,
Just the thought, of you,
Sends my stomach into
A nauseous knot of twisting
And churning and a stinging
Of burning tears to my
Eyes

A place reserved for drops
Of emotion I decide to release,
How dare you bring them out.
How dare you beckon to them.
How dare you.

I will never know why.
I will never know how.
You could watch my mentor
My teacher, my friend
mother in my heart
Fade away and not care
Until someone came along
To watch your false pity
Curl the sly corners of your lips

Breath return to my chest
Tears don`t be wasted.
Bring calm to my racing heart
And show me the way to
Forgive.

You come up with some very strong images. Yet I fail to get the central idea ( I hope its just me). The write is engaging, beyond doubt.

Hi Arunansu

I suppose it`s about struggling to calm emotions within when it comes to finding forgiveness. Sometimes, if something has affected you deeply even the mention of a name can bring back rage. That was my intention behind this - how to forgive.

Thanks for reading

Hi DSL

Yes there are not many things that turn me to complete rage - but there are some that make sure these emotions are quickly caught up!

Thanks for reading

Unfortunately I have lived this first hand.
Your words could be my words. The power of
poetry lends itself to release but, without
forgivness we are never really healed.

I praise your fearless pen whether you wrote
this about someone else, yourself, or just as
a result of something you know it's powerful
and paused my day.

thanks,
andy

Hi Andy

I am sorry you had to experience the complete selfishness of another human being. It never fails to amaze me how people cannot put someone else before them, even under such circumstances.

Thanks for the connection. I hope you have found your forgiveness

A wise one once told me that without forgiveness, we can never fully heal. It's never easy to forgive ourselves or those who we've been hurt by but once we are able to we feel so much better. Forgiveness heals all. I really like this Ash, you did an excellent job on it.

Hi Janel

Those are very wise words and I thank you for sharing them. To reiterate forgiveness DOES heal all.

Thank you for reading and sharing

I like the voice in this one. It stuck with me, and I'm back to say I love it. ...Holding the blazing coal of anger only burns your own hand, yes? Here's hoping this write was as cathartic as you hoped.
