Riding Midnight Beyond Mars

In the crust of a day
crumbs give way to gravity
falling into the grout lines
of our tiled choices
we leave a part of us
behind the walls of
ticking clocks

behind the unspoken
thoughts of lonely moments
in the vague vestibules
of our regrets time keeps no score
it seeks no solution
beyond the clear evidence
of a rising moon

In the hollows we remain
forever protected
from ourselves

I watch an army of ants disappear
into the cracks of concrete
in a slow parade that zigzags
back into tall tree grass blades

they travel on despite my presence
as if they know for sure that fate alone
holds the sole answer to their survival

On their backs the weight of their worlds
loyal soldiers marching on towards
an instinctive destiny
the earth holds no wonders in their eyes
it is the HUMAN side of me
that strikes the sudden envy

Later;

I walk past the shredded pines
that lay dead near the silver pond
once they brushed the golden sun
from the rising, lazy, knoll

It takes time to shut time off,
time to slow enough to ignore a clock
there is great gifts when thoughts
are free enough to fly unmeasured
in the beauty of paused silver moments

here, gazing at my twisted reflection
on the surface of this beaver's pond
I celebrate the you in me, the me in you,
the all in everything, the total sum
of what it takes to bleed
a day into a night

My life is a reflection
of clouds that slip on by
some days they block the sun,
gray and filled with rain
all things are redeemable,
even hatred that kills the spirit
of soul songs before their final
note is ever played

It takes a world to make a life
and life to make a world

It takes great faith in you and I
to battle past the fear to capture
silver moments that sail behind
clouds on a starlit path to dreams

As the midnight so effortlessly rolls in
I wink at lady Venus as the red ball of Mars
appears to be just another star

It is a sky of wonder
where all things that shine
find enough space to claim
their own harmonic worth

There are great lessons
to be learned in the lonely
silence of a midnight blue

The thoughts and a moment executed so well by the pen and if we don't come back to read this a few more times it will be our loss

Hello Andy

You paint how extraordinary the ordinary is, how the small has such a depth of purpose in this enormous universe, how we struggle to find that in our human ways, and yet, how that midnight blue is such a great teacher, with an eternity of lessons for us all.

This journey, from the crumbs to the heavens, just awesome.

Max

Andy,
have I told you lately how much I love
the words you pen? Cause I do.. even
your titles are so poetic, it beckons
the readers in and touches everyone's
heart deeply. Reading you truly
makes my day. Love this dear heart.

Big hugs,
Janel

I concur, midnight winker ;)

meandering surreal and enchanting, beautiful and calming, ponderous and hopeful, and soulful and wise ..but what i got most from this, is that there is plenty of space for everyone's worth to shine, everyones!!!!!

Much praises andy!!
