The pigeons dance
a jut and strut display
my lingo takes me home
to the point of all things

that exist but
aren't necessary

she said, "OH, he would never do that"
but, he did and never told her

It's funny how the fruit fly can't be caught
It took me years to figure out
that the wind from my hand
pushed them beyond my reach

It's cloudy and dark today
pigeon beaks evolved into
useful sidewalk tools

it takes years to adapt
and the pain is loud
in the struggle

but OH, when I play my pipers pen
when the soft breeze kisses my brow
I find the words, or they find me

lost in a sea of me
in a tangle of thoughts
that travel my trestles
fighting for a closing sigh

the soft landing of a completed poem
is the safe haven of poet's pause

I slice my day in strophes
and dance my nights in song

as the universe flows through me
my breath hangs suspended in
the frozen, heavy, air

ajs

and you may be so darn romantic, Andy

"but OH, when I play my pipers pen
when the soft breeze kisses my brow
I find the words, or they find me

lost in a sea of me
in a tangle of thoughts
that travel my trestles
fighting for a closing sigh

the soft landing of a completed poem
is the safe haven of poet's pause"

how that's true and delightfully said !!

Well my friend, being with the girls is not a bad
place to be; especially the women who visit the
motel.

Thanks much for taking the time to read and leaving
me your notes.

Hope all is well Paul,

i was there with you listening to your thoughts
and watching the words form upon the page.

Hello Andy

Quote:

and the learning between the slices makes for such poigniant strophes, filled with a breadth of life and it's subtle hues.

Images so vivid i feel the pigeons pecking.

Loved this.

Max

Thanks Max,

I greatly appreciate your comments.

.....and those pigeons, those damn birds
know a whole lot more about survival than
I ever will.

thanks again,
andy

The last stanza really got me along with the rest.

It was very very lovely, one of those you read when you need something beautiful in your day.

Thank you!
Jess

I love this poem Andy! Excellent writing. I heart the sentiment as I feel the same way about writing.

Great progression:"she said, "OH, he would never do that"
but, he did and never told her

It's funny how the fruit fly can't be caught
It took me years to figure out
that the wind from my hand
pushed them beyond my reach"...

From beginning to end a wonderful reflective piece!
