Whispered Wraiths

Listen to the silence

The whispered wraiths
on baited breath
cascade rivers
of death stained sweat
heat dissipates
from dispensed rounds
sweetly tinkling
onto the ground
the quiet moans
of dying friends
the spattered blood
of severed limbs
twitch nervously
in sombre glow
of the pungent
acidic smoke
fractured minds in
contemplation
of surrounding
decimation
wonder at this
eiree strange lull
in between the
incessant cull

listening to the silence
