A Gaul You came two thousands years Too late, The laughs you give us Compensate You let us invaded by these "Crazy Romans !"* Our father to us all You know, "Our ancestors the gauls"** I know, You're feared of nothing but The sky falls on your head. Asterix, yes it's him And his From ever best friend Obelix Noone can resist their strength They take from the magic potion. They travelled all the world Even they Discovered the future new world Always they Defends the lost good cause Against these "Crazy Romans" ! All the village's proudly supporting Cos' it's said Everything must end with a song And a banquet, Wild roars must be very quiet If they don't want to share the fest. * "They're crazy these Romans", favorite quote by Obelix, mostly because of the weird customs of his favorite enemies, the Romans. ** This is how all the French history manuals began some decades ago, including manuals that were used in our ex-dominions, lol ! Asterix is the one French superhero. Created few years after WWII, he represented our pride to be French whatever we had to endure, and the resistance of the small against the invader. The stories take place in 50 BC, at the end of the Roman invasion. Asterix leaves in a very small village of Armoric (future Brittany) that keeps on resisting to the Roman armies with the help of the Druid's magic potion, his best friend - born on the same day- is Obelix, who felt in the cauldron of potion when he was a kid so he doesn't need it anymore. Thoughout all the albums, both of them travel all the Gaul and the world to help other people having troubles with the Roman empire.
