The Burden

Bitter is the sweet,
bartered for fear.
Bitter is the taste,
of a solitary tear.
Bitter are the days,
bartered for tomorrow.
Bitter is the heart,
battered by sorrow.

Bitter is the burden of a
bartered boy.
Bitter molds a man to
barter no more.
