Well, I have been a heroin addict for about ten years. I started using black tar heroin in California with someone who was a long-time user. I then went through hell and back through detoxes, jail and the streets only to move to another state back in 2006. I was about 8 months clean from heroin when I moved to Atlanta. I stayed off the heroin for about 8 months only to find it again. I have been using it now here in Atlanta or two years and it has not been easy. I met a guy who is also a heroin addict who drained me of all my money and we both became full-time addicts by the summer of 2007. He is now on methadone and I am "chipping" hard working only to support my habit. I took 10 mg. of methadone on Saturday, it is now Monday and I am already craving the drug again hard. I have not however, put my job in jeopardy like I had before when I was a full time addict. Some things have changed, some things haven't. once an addict always an addict.
